it's about time for an update...
i went to sxsw this past week in Austin. i'm glad i had a wristband, because i ended up seeing quite a bit of shows. here's a list of the shows i saw in order; lots of photos coming soon, i only have a few ready to go::
+ Mando Diao [Sweden] - they didn't play my favorite song, but the show was fantastic anyway. i was directly in front of the stage.
+ Mew [Denmark] - i had been waiting for ages to see them...this show was basically empty, because it was some special "vegan party." i was right in front of them, and Carlos got some really nice photos.
+ Mammút {Iceland] - they played before Moi Caprice at the Nordic Nights showcase. this band is made up of 16-18 year olds (three girls and two boys). the lead singer was beautiful; had pink hair and pink and black dress. she sounded björkish, but the music was pretty heavy. i've never heard anything like it. i ended up saying a few words to the bass player, as it was carlos who did the talking, somewhere on the street that night. photos coming soon.
+ Moi Caprice [Denmark] - this was the other show i had been dying to see for a long time. there were only about 10 people listening, and i'm 99.9% sure i was the only one who knew their music. they aren't even big in dk. i got the setlist from the stage, heh.
+ Sondre Lerche [Norway] - he is probably the best performer i've ever seen. not shy at all-- completely comfortable and non-pretentious. it was only him and his friend. they didn't play my favorite song, but that's okay. i got his autograph after the show, although i didn't say anything to him besides "Takk". he replied with "Vær så god."
+ Under Byen [Denmark] - beautiful music. they played at a radio studio because they were being recorded for a seattle radio station. there were only about 4 other people here, not including staff members and stuff. i can't even explain how great the music was.
+ Mew - they played at the same place i saw Sondre at. this time there were more people there. almost the same setlist as the first show. if you look carefully, you can see my head. carlos took photos from a balcony. (look for red hair)
+ The Vincent Van Go-gos [Denmark] - i was by myself at Nordic Nights. they were sort of reggae-ish. i guess they were good for what they do...but it really wasn't my cup of tea.
+ Mew - this one was crowded, because Eisley was playing after them. i thought i was going to be deaf because i was in the front next to the speaker. they played a longer set, and opened with Special this time.
+ Eisley [Tyler, TX] - i only stayed for 2 songs because they were kind of boring, and the music wasn't very good.
+ Mando Diao - this show was at a TV studio, and was being filmed for some digital cable sxsw program. i was up against the stage, so i was on tv i guess. one of the singers cut his finger on his guitar and was bleeding everywhere the whole time. really really raelly good show though.
other than sxsw, nothing else has been going on except work, which takes up 90% of my time. in case any of you don't know, i have a new apartment and i'm going to Germany in august for an international marketing internship.

it finally feels like winter outside. everything is frozen-- including my poor bug. i'm enjoying being stranded at home though, it feels so nice to not have to go anywhere. i was going to walk to the post office, but it's a bit too late now because they close at 5. this morning i made porridge and watched amelie, then went for a walk outside.
it feels strange to be finished with school. in a month or so i might start working full-time as "assistant manager" of the health department at work. the other guy i work with is trasferring to a store in Buda, so i'm the only other person qualified to take his spot. in march, karyna wants me to take a bus with her to California to see her Ukrainian friend who will be going to school there. i'd rather go with her to Ukraine in the summer, but she's not sure if she's going. her grandmother is moving here this march, so her apartment in Ukraine won't be available anymore. speaking of California, my brother got a job as a traveling respiratory therapist, and is moving to Laguna Beach, CA in march. i have mixed feelings about it...we barely see each other now and we live in the same city, so i'll probably NEVER see him after he moves. sad =(
i don't have much to say...nothing else is interesting or new. i'm in a weird mood.

I was the only German major, and the only Russian minor..hah. my friend Frauke was there, but she's an Art major with a German minor

things are ok i suppose. i'm overly exhausted because i'm either in class or running around for Johnson during the day, then i work pretty late, and stay up really late/early working on German stuff.
i applied for this job in Stuttgart last week, not really knowing what it was exactly. it's a company called Bechtle, that sells IT computer-stuff i guess. they emailed me back the very next day and said they were impressed with my information. sooo they attached a really complicated document that they wanted me to translate from German to English and send back. it was a whole page with three parts, and it wasn't easy at all. i won't mind if they don't offer me a job, it seems too complicated for me anyway..
speaking of jobs, on saturday i'm training in a different section at heb. i finally get to work in Nature's Harvest (actually they call it 'Healthy Living' now). they got a huge bulk section, like at sun harvest. the manager is really nice and this other guy who works there is nice too. he eats raw buffalo meat.
hmmm other than that...i've been eating chocolate every day, drinking tea, listening to loads of music, and i'm still poor.
oh, Jose Gonzalez is coming tomorrow. i might go see him just because he's Swedish =P do you know him Alex?

today was a super crap day. an old man at work complained about me saying that i didn't say hello or goodbye, which was a complete lie. i even spotted him 4 cents from my own pocket because he was short! because of his complaint, this stupid girl who isn't even a manager filled out an audit form about me and wrote that i have bad customer service and i don't interact with customers at all. and that i don't give balloons to every kid like we're supposed to. it's a grocery store! not a carnival! argh. she's always had something against me..i just don't know what. bleh...so this week they might fire me apparently. i have to look for another job now.
my phone hasn't been working either- it won't ring or show calls. i haven't even had a chance to go to the phone place to get another one, and it will be the third phone in one month! then, i went to visit my parents/wash my clothes, and i find out my dad was in the hospital all day. he had a biking accident this morning while training for some race with my brother. he got 14 stitches, a fingernail came off and will not grow back, and destroyed his knee, shoulder, face, and bike. oh, and someone is breaking into cars at my apartments. this morning the car next to me was broken into. it's only a matter of time for my poor little car...
i'm sick of this place =( i want to mooooooooooooove
